Gordon R. Tobin, II, M.D., Receives KMA Distinguished Service Award

LOUISVILLE, KY —  The Kentucky Medical Association (KMA) presented its Distinguished Service Award to Gordon R. Tobin, II, M.D., of Louisville during the Leadership Dinner at the 2019 KMA Annual Meeting on Sept. 21.

This award is presented annually to a KMA member who has provided outstanding service to patients, organized medicine and the community at large. Dr. Tobin is a Past President of KMA and has been a passionate champion for public health throughout his career. He is actively involved in the Supplies Over Seas program, providing desperately needed equipment and supplies to underserved populations around the world. Dr. Tobin also serves on the Board of Directors of The Healing Place, a nationally recognized addiction recovery center. He has spoken nationally at the American Medical Association Advocacy Conference about the importance of rural clinical care and the need for funding additional residency positions. He has also given generously of his time, serving on clinical mission trips and working to bring pediatric patients to Kentucky to receive charitable reconstructive surgery, often providing this care himself.

Dr. Tobin has also served as President of the Greater Louisville Medical Society and on the Board of Directors of the Kentucky Foundation for Medical Care. Receiving many humanitarian, service and teaching honors throughout his career, Dr. Tobin was also named the 2017-2018 Ephraim McDowell Kentucky Physician of the Year.
