Course Description: This activity will address the importance of diet and exercise and the impact positive choices can have on the body.

Kentucky is considered one of the least physically active states in the US and a study by the CDC ranked Kentucky as the second-least physically active state, with only Mississippi being less active.
- ADULTS: A study by the CDC found that 29.7% of Kentucky adults reported no physical activity in the past month, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Only 41.4% achieved the recommended 300 minutes of moderate-intensity or 150 minutes of vigorous-intensity aerobic activity per week.
- CHILDREN: A significant portion of Kentucky’s children are not meeting physical activity guidelines. 44% don’t get enough vigorous activity, and 79% don’t get enough moderate physical activity according to the Cabinet for Health and Family Services (CHFS). Furthermore, 76% of children do not have daily physical education.
2022 data from the CDC reports the following regarding nutrition and weight in Kentuckians:

Vegetable consumption: 89.1% ate vegetables less than 3 times per day during the 7 days before the survey (green salad; potatoes, excluding French fries, fried potatoes, or potato chips; carrots; or other vegetables). Sugar-sweetened beverage consumption: 35.7% drank a can, bottle, or glass of soda or pop (not including diet soda or diet pop) at least one time per day during the 7 days before the survey.
