Simply complete the membership application on the KMA website. The information submitted in the application will be shared with the appropriate county medical society. Upon approval, you will receive a dues statement by mail. Your membership is effective once KMA receives your dues payment. If you prefer to apply and pay by phone, please contact the KMA membership department at 502-426-6200.

Louisville physicians should join through the Greater Louisville Medical Society.

Active: $530 plus applicable county dues 

First Year in Practice: $265 plus applicable county dues 

Second Year in Practice: $398 plus applicable county dues 

Resident: One-time fee of $25 plus applicable county dues 

Student: All medical students in Kentucky are automatically granted dues-exempt membership. 

Retired: A discounted rate of $100 plus applicable county dues is available for Inactive membership. Contact the  KMA membership department to inquire about eligibility.

The Lexington Medical Society (Fayette County) and the Greater Louisville Medical Society (Jefferson County) have  varying dues amounts based on membership category. All other counties not listed either collect their own dues  or do not have county dues. Contact KMA for more information. 

KMA and your county society are unified, and you must be a member of one to join the other. KMA works  alongside its county medical societies to accomplish results at the grassroots level. Below are links to some of the  county societies. Please contact KMA for information on other counties.

All memberships are based on a calendar year with dues expiring on December 31. Contact the KMA membership department for questions related to dues billing or to check your current membership status.

KMA members can pay dues by phone or online by logging on to the Member Center and selecting the “Pay Online” option.

Medical association dues may be partially deductible as a business expense for federal income tax purposes, but  are not deductible as a charitable contribution. “For 2022, 14% of your KMA membership dues are not deductible  because of lobbying activities on behalf of KMA members.

Donations to the Kentucky Foundation for Medical Care (KFMC) and the KMA Legal Trust Fund are highly  encouraged but not required. KMA works in conjunction with KFMC and the KMA Legal Trust Fund on a number of  issues important to physicians and patients. You can update your contact information by logging on to the Member Center and selecting “Person Record Detail.” You can also contact the KMA membership department at 502-426-6200 or member@kyma.org.

Advocacy is one of the most important functions of the KMA. No, we will automatically send you a dues renewal statement each year. Resident members who complete their residency will automatically be rolled to the next membership category and receive a dues statement for the upcoming year.

KMA offers many ways for physicians to get involved in organized medicine and serve their communities.
