Continuing Medical Education Information
Course Description:
This activity will address the importance of diagnosis and treatment for women. Education will also focus on current trends in treatment, discuss considerations of menstrual cycles, perimenopause, menopause and weight management. Further discussion will explore trends in supplements and vitamins.
Statement of Need:
Women’s health considerations have evolved in recent years. In fact, according to the Cleveland Clinic, it wasn’t until “1993 when the National Institutes of Health (NIH) passed the Revitalization Act that required the inclusion of women and racial/ethnic minorities in NIH-funded clinical research. The reason is that prior to that passing, women and ethnic minorities were largely excluded from clinical trials even in their earliest stages. “
This recognition and emphasis on the importance of women’s health has led to a need for continued education for primary care and other specialists who see patients in this demographic.
