Physicians from across the state gathered in Frankfort February 18 for KMA’s annual Physicians’ Day at the Capitol to advocate for policies impacting their practices and patients.
This year, KMA physicians united around reducing administrative burdens, particularly regarding prior authorization, by advocating for reforms that increase transparency and streamline processes, allowing physicians to focus on patient care.
During the luncheon, KMA also presented John Cooper with the 2025 KMA Debra K. Best Outstanding Layperson Award. Cooper has been a key part of the KMA advocacy team for more than 40 years. A video highlighting his accomplishments and dedication to medicine is available here.
KMA members met with their legislators in the morning and attended a lunch and debriefing session at the Capitol Plaza Hotel, where recaps from the day’s visits and feedback were shared.
