Course Description:

This module will provide an in-depth discussion from expert panelists on the status of telemedicine in today’s healthcare environment as well as what telemedicine may look like in the future.

Statement of Need:

The emergence of COVID-19 thrust telemedicine into daily practice for many physicians. The emergence of telemedicine has created many opportunities and challenges for the healthcare community including regulatory issues, access to care, the patient-physician relationship and more. A majority of physicians had not or have not utilized telemedicine to care for patients. There is a need for further education and information surrounding how to incorporate telemedicine and preserve the patient-physician relationship.

Objectives:

At the end of this module physicians will be able to:

    • Describe the current status of telemedicine regulations locally and nationally
    • Describe some of the challenges related to incorporating telemedicine
    • Describe opportunities related to incorporating telemedicine
