Governor Beshear has appointed Lisa Lee as Medicaid Commissioner. A graduate of Kentucky State University, Lee has more than two decades of experience in state government. She previously served as Deputy Medicaid Commissioner and was also appointed Medicaid Commissioner by former Governor Steve Bashear.
Insurers interested in a Medicaid contract will have to rebid, which allows another chance for Anthem and Passport to win a contract and negates the previously filed protests. The Request for Proposal (RFP) is expected by January 10, 2020 and is due back to the cabinet by February 15, 2020. Since the Governor eliminated the Kentucky Health (1115 Waiver) that portion would be removed from the RFP. Meanwhile it is business as usual for all the current MCOs.
