Physicians’ Day at the Capitol

In February 2021, KMA hosted its first “Advocacy in Action Month” which replaced “Physicians’ Day at the Capitol,” the in-person KMA advocacy event held in Frankfort each year, out of concern for the health and safety of Kentucky’s physicians during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Thanks to the engagement and advocacy of KMA member physicians throughout Advocacy in Action Month and the rest of the session, the 2021 Kentucky General Assembly proved to be one of the most successful for physicians and patients in recent years.
KMA advocates helped secure five historic wins for medicine and health care in Kentucky. These include legislation related to telehealth, prior authorization for MAT, co-pay accumulator policies, mental health parity, and COVID-19 liability protections.

KMA has compiled a 2021 “Advocacy in Action Achievement Report,” which outlines the new laws, available here.

More information on KMA Advocacy events for 2022 will be provided here as details develop.
