KMA leaders from across the state recently traveled to Washington, D.C. to meet with Kentucky’s congressional delegation and attend the American Medical Association (AMA) National Advocacy Conference.
In discussions with members of Congress, attendees emphasized the importance of restoring Medicare physician payments for 2025 and the need for long-term Medicare physician payment reforms. KMA leaders urged legislators to support H.R. 879, “The Medicare Patient Access and Practice Stabilization Act,” that would stop the 2.8 percent cut in Medicare physician payments that began January 1, 2025, and provide a 2 percent payment update to help ease inflationary pressures.
Now is the time to act as Congress faces a March 14th deadline to pass another spending package for the remainder of the fiscal year. Visit fixmedicarenow.org to contact your representative and ask them to co-sponsor “The Medicare Patient Access and Practice Stabilization Act” (H.R. 879), as an important first step in comprehensive Medicare physician payment reform.
