The collaboration is announced as KMA prepares for the launch of “Small STEPS, Big Impact,” its latest public health effort under the leadership of KMA President Evelyn Montgomery Jones, M.D. The campaign will encourage patients to achieve long-term success through taking simple steps that can add up to a big impact on their health. The campaign will focus on five key areas and offer straightforward strategies and support for patients. KMA physician members will be provided with additional training and resources so they can partner with patients as they take these steps and make changes together.
“I’m excited to be able to offer this opportunity from the ACLM to KMA physicians, especially as we look for ways to improve the health status of our patients and our state,” Dr. Montgomery Jones said. “The ACLM’s courses speak to a number of the goals of our ‘Small STEPS, Big Impact’ campaign, and we hope many of our physician members will take advantage of this program.”
ACLM CEO Susan Benigas called the collaboration vital for ensuring that KMA physician members develop the foundation of knowledge they need to help patients utilize lifestyle medicine to address the root cause of most chronic diseases.
“ACLM is delighted that KMA and Dr. Montgomery Jones have taken the initiative to ensure that completion of this award-winning, evidence-based introduction to lifestyle medicine and food as medicine is incentivized to all physician members,” Benigas said. “I hope physicians take advantage of this complimentary CME opportunity to learn how lifestyle medicine can benefit their patients and themselves.”
