KMA Past President Bruce Scott, M.D., Inaugurated as 179th President of the American Medical Association

KMA Past President Bruce Scott, M.D., was inaugurated on June 11 as the 179th President of the American Medical Association (AMA) during its Annual Meeting in Chicago. He is an otolaryngologist and President of Kentuckiana Ear, Nose & Throat in Louisville.

Dr. Scott served as KMA President from 2018-2019. He also served four years as vice speaker of the AMA House of Delegates and four years as speaker. Dr Scott earned praise for his work as AMA speaker, especially during the Covid crisis in which the large governing body of the AMA held virtual meetings that were led by Doctor Scott.
During his inaugural address,

Dr. Scott discussed his plan to advocate for the patient-physician relationship, for science and medical ethics, for fair Medicare physician payment, and against scope of
practice expansions.

Dr. Scott is the third Kentuckian to serve as AMA President in the last ten years, following Ardis Dee Hoven, M.D., (2013–2014) and Steven J. Stack, M.D. (2015–2016).
