The 2016 Legislative session was the most successful for KMA in more than 15 years. A large part of this success can be attributed to physicians who’ve not only contributed their time, but also their money.
“Now more than ever, it’s important for medicine to have a voice in the legislature and I think the Kentucky Physicians Political Action Committee (KPPAC) gives us that voice,” said KPPAC Chair Robert Couch, MD. “KPPAC supports pro-medicine candidates and ensures we’re represented in Frankfort and in Washington.”
Earlier this year, the KPPAC 100 initiative was launched to promote physician leadership and develop KPPAC into a $100,000 PAC. By joining this effort, physicians can amplify their voice in the election process, assist in electing pro-medicine candidates and, as a result, have a greater impact on the practice of medicine.
KPPAC 100 membership begins at $1,000 donations. Visit the KPPAC website at KPPAC.org to contribute or contact Laura Hartz at (502) 814-1386 or at hartz@kyma.org. The highest contributor will be recognized at this year’s KMA Annual Meeting, where an exclusive bourbon tasting event will be held for the first 50 KPPAC 100 contributors. The event will be held Saturday, Sept. 10, at 5:15 p.m. in Commonwealth B at the Louisville Marriott East. Contact Laura for tickets to the bourbon tasting event.
“I think it’s a good opportunity for KPPAC 100 members to get together to socialize and enjoy some of the benefits of belonging,” Dr. Couch said about the event. “Perhaps other potential donors can see that and consider joining as well.”
