October 2022 President’s Message: Making Our Voices Heart

As physicians, our time is precious. If you’re like me, it usually seems that every minute of the day is accounted for, sometimes months in advance.

But that’s why I always welcome the question, “why am I so involved in organized medicine?” when my time is so limited.

It’s BECAUSE our time as physicians is so limited, that involvement in KMA is so important!

The KMA works on OUR behalf, to advocate for changes that protect our profession and allow caring for our patients to remain our top priority. The KMA also provides resources and services that support and benefit us, such as the Be Well. Stay Well. Physician Health Program, and the new CME Guarantee.

But of course, none of these things could be accomplished without your membership and involvement.

This fall, KMA is conducting a member survey that will help the organization better understand issues impacting you and your patients. The survey will focus on four key areas: prior authorization, public health, CME, and physician wellness.

Please watch your inbox on Wednesday, October 12, for an email invite from KMA and Avenue M Group, LLC, an independent market research firm and our partner for this survey. The survey should take about 10 minutes to complete. Your responses will be anonymous, so feel free to be candid.

In appreciation of your time, you will have the opportunity to be entered into a drawing for a chance to win a $100 Amazon Gift Card. A total of five (5) gift cards will be given away.

If you have any questions about this survey, please feel free to contact Trevor Schlusemann from Avenue M Group by emailing schlusemann@avenuemgroup.com. You can also contact KMA by emailing KMA Communications Director Emily Schott, schott@kyma.org

I’m looking forward to completing this survey to make our organization better and I hope you are as well. KMA has existed since 1851 to allow the voices of physicians to be heard, and this survey ensures you can add yours and help guide the future work and priorities of the Association.

I’m proud of the KMA and what we’ve been able to accomplish together, and I’m excited to see where the next few years take us. Thank you in advance for your time, participation and invaluable feedback.
