Member Alert June 11: HHS Announces Enhanced Provider Portal, Relief Fund Payments for Safety Net Hospitals, Medicaid & CHIP Providers

This week, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), announced the distribution of additional relief funds from the Provider Relief Fund to eligible Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) providers that participate in state Medicaid and CHIP programs. HHS expects to distribute approximately $15 billion to eligible providers that participate in state Medicaid and CHIP programs and have not received a payment from the Provider Relief Fund General Allocation. HHS is also announcing the distribution of $10 billion in Provider Relief Funds to safety net hospitals that serve our most vulnerable citizens. The safety net distribution will occur this week.

An online portal was launched yesterday that will allow eligible physicians and organizations to report their annual patient revenue data and other necessary information to receive a payment equal to at least 2 percent of reported gross revenues from patient care.

More information about eligibility and the application process is available at https://www.hhs.gov/coronavirus/cares-act-provider-relief-fund/general-information/index.html

In collaboration with the Department for Medicaid Services (DMS) and the Kentucky Health Information Exchange (KHIE), Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Medicaid (Anthem) is offering participating Anthem providers the opportunity to apply for assistance to help offset the costs associated with connecting to KHIE.

If approved, providers may be awarded up to $2,000, per tax identification number (TIN) and/or business entity, until all funds up to $100,000 are depleted. Approved providers will be notified using the email address provided on the Application.

Applications will be accepted through June 30, 2020. More information and the application can be found here.

Reminder: 2020 KMA Annual Meeting Member Survey

As announced earlier this week, the 2020 KMA Annual Meeting will be held virtually for the first time. While much of the meeting’s programming will be available for members to access on their own schedule, KMA is planning to host a series of virtual town hall CME forums throughout the month of August, with speakers and attendees engaging in real-time. Members are being asked to complete a short survey regarding the scheduling of these forums in order for KMA to accommodate the majority of attendees.

Please complete the survey no later than Monday, June 15: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/kmatownhall

AMA & CDC Project Firstline Survey

The American Medical Association (AMA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) are collaborating on an infection prevention and control training initiative for frontline health care personnel. In order for this training to be as responsive to the needs of physicians as possible, they are asking for physicians to complete this survey on infection prevention and control training interests, needs, and preferences. The survey should take less than 10 minutes to complete. Responses will be used to inform decisions on the development and delivery of training to ensure it best meets the needs of physicians. The survey will be “live” until 11:59 ET on June 23, 2020 or until the survey receives 10,000 responses.
