President’s Message: Make the Most of Summer: Register for the 2026 KMA Annual Meeting

As summer reaches its peak, many of us are taking advantage of a slightly different pace to spend time with family, recharge, and reflect. While the demands that come with being a physician never truly slow down, the summer season can provide an opportunity to step back, reconnect with colleagues and friends, and invest in our own professional growth.

That is why I’m encouraging every KMA member to register for the 2026 KMA Annual Meeting, taking place Aug. 22-23 at the Louisville Marriott East.

Each year, the Annual Meeting serves as an opportunity for physicians from across Kentucky to come together, learn from one another, and help shape the future of organized medicine in our Commonwealth. This year’s meeting is especially meaningful as we gather under the theme, “Kentucky Physicians: At the Heart of Impact.” The theme reflects not only our KMA and KFMC’s two-year public health campaign, Small STEPS, Big Impact, but also the essential role physicians play in improving the lives of patients and communities every day.

Whether you are caring for patients in a rural community, conducting research, serving as a healthcare executive, or training the next generation of physicians, your work has an impact. The Annual Meeting provides a forum to celebrate that impact while engaging in meaningful discussions about the issues affecting our profession and our patients.

One of the most valuable components of this year’s meeting is our popular Meet the Mandates educational program. Meet the Mandates offer a convenient opportunity for physicians to obtain the subject matter specific mandated Continuing Medical Education (CME) before the end of the three-year cycle. By attending the Annual Meeting, physicians can satisfy these requirements while also engaging with colleagues and participating in broader discussions about healthcare policy, advocacy, and leadership.

Beyond education, the Annual Meeting is where the business of the Association takes place through the KMA House of Delegates. Don’t forget, the deadline to submit a resolution for consideration is July 16.

As you make plans for the remainder of the summer, I hope you will reserve time to join us in Louisville. Your voice, perspective, and participation are critical to the continued success of our Association and our profession. The entire Annual Meeting weekend is a chance to connect with friends and colleagues from across the state and strengthen the relationships that make our physician community so strong.

I look forward to seeing you at the 2026 KMA Annual Meeting as we celebrate the many ways Kentucky physicians remain at the heart of impact.
